Unigrains Iberia invests in Haricaman, a leading Spanish producer of breakfast cereals, flours and breadcrumbs
With the support of Unigrains Iberia as a minority shareholder, the family-owned company led by CEO Nicolás Rodríguez Cuéllar will accelerate growth and expand its cereal-based food platform
Madrid & Añover de Tajo, July 27th, 2026 – Haricaman, a leading Spanish producer of breakfast cereals, flours and breadcrumbs, has opened its capital to Unigrains Iberia, the Spanish subsidiary of Europe’s leading agri-food investor, as a minority shareholder. This transaction supports a new phase of development focused on continued organic growth, industrial efficiency and innovation in new, higher value-added products.
Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Añover de Tajo, in Castilla-La Mancha, one of Spain's most important wheat and cereal growing regions, Haricaman specializes in the production and packaging of breakfast cereals, flours and breadcrumbs for major food retailers and industrial clients. Its production facility, certified under both IFS Food and organic production standards, is also capable of manufacturing gluten-free products under the Crossed Grain label; a segment in which Haricaman has established a leading position in Spain while meeting the highest quality and food safety standards.
Majority-owned by the Rodríguez Cuéllar family and led by CEO Nicolás Rodríguez Cuéllar, Haricaman aims to reach sales of over €50 million in 2026 and employs approximately 200 people.
This transaction comes as Haricaman embarks on a new phase of development focused on several strategic priorities:
- Strengthening its position in breakfast cereals through an expanded product range, supported by the construction of two new manufacturing facilities;
- Entering the healthy snacks market through the production of rice, corn and legume crackers;
- Expanding its gluten-free product portfolio;
- Optimizing operations and production capacity.
Unigrains Iberia’s investment reflects its commitment to supporting this ambitious project, accompanying Haricaman’s international expansion, external growth initiatives and long-term development.
Nicolás Rodríguez Cuéllar, CEO of Haricaman, commented: “With Unigrains Iberia, we have found a sector-specialized partner that understands both the specific characteristics of our industry and the particular considerations of a family-owned business. Beyond financial resources, Unigrains’ deep knowledge of the grains sector, its economic research capabilities and its extensive network will support our growth ambitions while preserving the values and the entrepreneurial spirit that have guided Haricaman for more than 35 years.”
Álvaro Hernández, CEO of Unigrains Iberia, commented: “We are delighted to partner with the Rodríguez Cuéllar family and the Haricaman team in this new growth phase. Haricaman has built a unique position in the Spanish market, combining strong industrial know-how, an entrepreneurial culture and a proven capacity for innovation. Its focus on grains-based products fits perfectly with Unigrains’ DNA and longstanding expertise, and we look forward to supporting the company in its next stage of sustainable growth.”
